Visiting schools is one of my favorite things to do as a titleholder and speaker. Walking into the building and brightening up students day is the BEST feeling! A couple of weeks ago, I was able to visit Montclair Elementary School and speak throughout the day with every grade level, Kindergarten-6th, about health/fitness, my journey with pediatric cancer, and the importance of service. From racing with 1st graders on the field to speaking with children who had been impacted by cancer, it was an unforgettable day. One of the sweetest parts was having the little kindergarteners try on my crown and then them picking me a bouquet flowers. At the school, two children have survived cancer and one has unfortunately passed away. Because of this, the school has become quite involved in the fight! During my speeches, I had the opportunity to honor these kids and even do some of the run/walk laps with them. The school has partnered with the #GoldTogether for Childhood Cancer Relay for Life team. They have held multiple fundraisers such as jar wars, selling t-shirts, and sending home luminaria bags. All of the students, parents, and educators are extremely supportive, dedicated, and passionate to this fight and I am forever grateful to every single one of them! I hope to visit to Montclair again very soon! -Hannah
